Mulholland, Highway near Malibu, CA

Ducati 1098r modified to 1098rs Superbike Specs - FGR900 fork, TTXr 46 rear, Brembo Calipers, race electronics, Magnesium wheels, All Titanium nuts & bolts .
From the rider " this is a 1198RS when I ride it on the street I put the street side and upper fairings for the lights and the front wheel I run on the street has stock rotors because they don't bite as hard as Superbike ones" "and yes just about every nut and bolt is in Ti as are the axel, handlebars, etc and the bike weight"

Mulholland Highway in Los Angeles has been a popular location motorcycles & fast cars for decades. Car and motorcycle clubs are regular visitors every weekend. Jay Leno can often be found at the famous Rockstore and at a view point called Lookout talking with fellow motor enthusiasts. Crashes are common as well as a heavy police presence on most weekends. The Snake is a two mile section of Mulholland above the Rockstore. Riders usually will make multiple runs allowing me to move from corner to corner when assembling rider videos. The speed limit is 45 mph, most riders are not going much over that so the majority of tickets are crossing the line, wheelies or equipment violations. Bicycles are up here all the time but motorcycles and bikes seem to do fine together as long as the cyclists are willing to stay to the right. Cars passing them are a bigger problem since there is no shoulder and most turns are blind.
I mainly shoot on the last corner coming up because I can see much of the road and photogs are expected. The turn gets it's fair share of crashes but people crash other places also just no one is filming. The top corner I shoot seem to average one crash every couple weeks in the summer, out of many hundreds of riders. 911 emergency services are rarely called and accidents are seldom reported since most riders do not get injured severely. The cop was lit up with sirens on the way to an emergency. The rider with his music blasting, unaware pulled out in front of the cop rippin down the Snake. The cop was just a short distance behind the rider so everyone thought it was a police chase. Even funnier, the rider pulled over to come up for a second run and the cop continued on. Everyone thought the rider hid as the cop passed. When the rider came back he had no idea what was going on.

This Park sign describes "the Snake"
"You are standing at the top of curves that road enthusiasts affectionately call "The Snake". Over the years Mulholland Highway has tested the merits of cars from Duesenbergs to Teslas. This particular stretch of road is a mecca for motorcyclists. It's sharp turns offer an adrenaline rush and a chance for fun, fame and often folly.

To your left is "Edwards Corner". It was named after the late Ed Savko, long-time owner of the Rock Store., a popular road house just down the hill. Hundreds of riders have (----) on this challenging 180- degree curve, perhaps showing off for spectators, who often gather here. Other succumb safely to the charm of "The Snake." "
